Children are teamed into two’s with a Handy Hoop each, but just one Litter Picker.  As you know kids can quickly lose concentration on a task, however with just one litter picker between them, they can’t wait to get it off the other and pick more rubbish than the other before it is claimed back.  Losing use of the litter picker creates the desire to get it back,  and get back to work, while if there is some recognition or less importantly a prize, at the end, which team collects the most keep their competitiveness and long term motivation.

N.B. Children’s small Handy Hoop, bag holder is 350mm diameter which means it uses a smaller bag than a bin bag; in fact it can be used with supermarket carrier bags, or large swing bin liners.

If supervisors are going to be transferring rubbish collected by kids to transfer to traditional black bin bags it is suggested that “Teacher” also buys at least one adult (Large) bin bag holder for easier transfer of litter.

Litter picking tongs operate a tweezer type action operated by whole hand. Hand litter picker tongs.

New longer length litter picker for industrial, professional use. Perhaps the most proven design, with extra 3 inch length on shaft and new grip and jaw design. This design of litter picker will pick up just about every type of litter, cans, bottles, paper bags and small items like cigarette ends.

Longer Litter Picker gripper.  Additional length (from the standard 32″) for the comfort of taller operators.  Avoid stooping  35″inch (89cm) with long litter picking tool. Longer length reduces the risk of RSI from repetitive bending, allowing taller operators to remain upright while working.

Ergonomic pistol grip with trigger operation.

Buying a litter picker too long can cause as many problems as buying one too short. Use a stick, brush shaft or similar and hold it 35 inches from the end and try for comfort touching the floor without stooping, then simulate holding a bin bag and try to put the end of stick into the opening of the bag.  Try it again holding the stick at 32 inches.  If litter picker is too long it means you have to stretch your arm out to get litter into bag.  As the bag fills and becomes heavier this simple oversight will be felt in your arm muscles. The position you find yourself in emptying the litter picker into the waste sack is similar to your hand positions when firing a bow and arrow.  It is the distance between your fists in this position, should be the length of litter picker that you should select.

We would not class this item as an industrial litter picker, in terms of sturdy, robust or long term usage as the price would suggest.

Ideal size for Kids/ Childrens Litter Picker 25 inch – 64cm reach
